Neil is passionate about taking technologies to market, combining a strong technical background with the ability to clearly communicate value to investors and customers. He was awarded the Saltire Fellowship in 2009 and continues to build on his experience with the clear objective of developing scalable, high growth technology companies competing on the global stage.
Neil is currently head of marketing and business development at Actual Analytics, an Edinburgh-based university spin-out who's software helps Academics and Pharmaceutical Companies cut costs and improve data quality in their quest for the development of drugs treating diseases such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. Since joining the university research project, Neil has played a key role in the new company which, in the 12 months following his Saltire Fellowship, has raised £900k of angel investment, built a world-class team and released their first products to acclaim from the scientific community.
Neil has a first class undergraduate degree in Computer Science from the University of Edinburgh and his career has included previous positions as software developer, management consultant, army officer and hot dog retailer in the US, Canada and London.
